Artists Give Back, in collaboration with Sony Pictures and Landmark Theatres, presents a special reception and one-night-only screening of Philadelphia to celebrate Ron Nyswaner's (The Painted Veil, Soldier's Girl) groundbreaking screenplay. All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the HIV & AIDS Legal Services Alliance (HALSA), the only organization providing free legal services exclusively to low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. However, the organization's programs are now in jeopardy, due to budget cuts from government funding sources. This event is an important opportunity to support HALSA and ensure that its programs and talented staff can continue to provide the oftentimes life-saving assistance to those in need.

We hope you'll join Ron Nyswaner, members of the cast and crew and friends, Artists Give Back, and the team from HALSA at the star-studded reception and screening. Thank you for your support!

Artists Give Back is a community of creative entertainment industry professionals who provide their unique talents and resources to charitable organizations in need of support. While engaging in volunteer work with one another, Artists Give Back creates social and professional networking opportunities for artists. We offer a map for writers, actors, and musicians to meet talented people in their field who want to get involved and make an impact in their community. We bridge the gap between non-profit organizations in need of volunteers and services from writers, actors, and musicians and our members who endeavor to give back locally and globally.

HALSA is one of the nation's leading public health legal service providers supporting low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS. Through legal representation, advocacy, and community education, HALSA protects rights, ensures dignity and improves health in a number of ways:

We help clients fight HIV discrimination in work, housing, schools and health care; assist clients with public benefits and insurance issues to ensure access to life-saving medical care; provide immigration assistance vital to securing employment and health insurance; resolve tax problems and provide for future planning, such as the creation of wills, health directives and child guardianships; advocate for fair laws and policy that improve health care access, ensure privacy, and strengthen protections against HIV discrimination; provide HIV-specific legal education and support to public interest organizations, government agencies, nonprofit health clinics and others serving people living with HIV/AIDS.

HALSA is the primary provider of legal services for the estimated 100,000 people living with HIV in Southern California. For those who do not meet our income guidelines, we also have a Lawyer Referral Service that provides quality referrals to lawyers that may offer reduced-fee legal assistance.
